About Us

Taxpayers Association of
El Dorado County

The Taxpayers Association of El Dorado County is the community’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to fiscal responsibility and citizen education. Founded in 1958 and incorporated in 1965 as an IRS-recognized 501(c)(4) Civic League, our mission is simple: to ensure local governments responsibly use taxpayer funds.

For decades, our weekly public meetings have served as an essential platform for Supervisors, elected officials, and community leaders to engage with the public. While our members come from diverse backgrounds—including varying views on land use, environmental, and social issues—we are united by a common commitment to vigilant government oversight and a passion for keeping fellow citizens informed on local taxpayer matters.

Our Mission

Membership & Weekly Meetings

General membership in the Taxpayers Association is open to any El Dorado County property owner. Members play a vital role in our governance, including the annual election of the Board of Directors every November. The Board oversees the Association, determines policy, and appoints committees to investigate major county issues, such as the current committees dedicated to the county budget and road maintenance.

We welcome new members to support our mission of holding local government accountable. For membership information, please contact us at info@taxpayersedc.org.

Weekly Meetings

Our weekly membership meetings are held every Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. at Denny’s Restaurant in Placerville.

  • Guests are always welcome.

  • Members may also join meetings remotely via Zoom videoconference or telephone.

  • Meetings featuring guest speakers are broadcast live and archived on the Association’s Facebook page.
