El Dorado County Auditor-Controller Joe Harn joined the Taxpayers Association at the Taxpayer Association’s July 19th meeting.  Harn discussed several taxpayer issues including attempts to shift online sales tax revenue towards cities that make deals to house warehouses, water supply constraints, and challenges maintaining controls on government payments as work shifts to paperless and digital processes.

Harn received several questions from El Dorado Hills residents related to a controversial Lighting and Landscaping Assessment District in the Heritage Park neighborhood.  Harn outlined his concern with the current charges authorized by the El Dorado Hills Community Services District but noted that so long as a district follows the proper legal procedures the Auditor-Controller must place them on property tax bills.  District General Manager Kevin Loewen previously addressed the controversy at the Association’s May 24 meeting, as did community group leader Bob Williams on June 21.
