South Lake Tahoe Fire Chief Clive Savacool stopped by the Taxpayers Association on a visit to the west slope of the county August 9. Savacool talked about his crews’ recent experiences fighting the Tamarack Fire, defensible space requirements, and emergency preparedness activities in the Tahoe Basin and countywide. He also provided an update on the city’s implementation of Measure S, a one-cent sales tax increase voters approved in November 2020.
