The Taxpayers Association of El Dorado County announced the results of its annual Board of Directors election at its final 2021 meeting on December 13.  Michael Raffety was elected to replace Bill Carey who chose not to seek re-election after over 20 years of service to the Association.

Raffety is well known in El Dorado County as the longest-serving editor of the Mountain Democrat.  He continues to freelance for the publication and writes a biweekly column.  He is also currently commander of American Legion Post 119 and served one term as an elected El Dorado Irrigation District Director and two times as president of the Mother Lode Lions Club.  Raffety holds a BA in Classics from San Francisco State University and an MA in Art from CSU Sacramento.

Carey served terms as President, Vice President, and Secretary during his time as an Association Director.  He worked for El Dorado County for two decades before retiring. He was the appointed County Building Official.  While Carey is stepping back from the Board he still looks forward to attending Association meetings as he is able.

All other 2021 Directors were re-elected for 2022.  Also at the December 13 meeting, the 2022 Directors re-elected all four Officers (President Andy Nevis, Vice President Kris Payne, Secretary Todd White, and Treasurer Carol Louis) to another term. Weekly meetings will resume in the new year on January 3.
